The 430 Ontario Goodwill employees who have been off the job since 16 stores closed Sunday will not see any pay this Friday.
“Despite our best efforts, employees will not be paid on Friday as part of the regular pay cycle,” said Keiko Nakamura, CEO of Goodwill Industries of Toronto, Eastern, Central and Northern Ontario, in a statement released Wednesday.
An update on the employee payment will be issued Monday.
A protest was staged by employees in Scarborough, where they chanted “Keiko must go”. They told media that their benefits have also been cut off, and they’re not sure how they’ll pay their bills or buy groceries.
Should Keiko Nakamura step down?
