Canadian Plasma Resources is trying to set up a blood clinic in Saskatoon that would PAY donors for their blood plasma.
Canadian Blood Services (and their union) will fight this attempt, as they have in other cases. They’re the only player in Canada when it comes to this service, and believe that they are the best suited to collecting, storing, and delivering the precious fluid.
Many Canadians argue that they don’t want to be paid for the gift they freely give, time and time again. Knowing that somebody’s life might be saved via a donation is payment enough for many.
Derek James From wrote HERE in the National Post that when he was a student in the United States, he earned $45 a week by donating his blood. His first visit in a seven-day period earned him $20 and the second earned him $25.
Do you think payment for blood donations would be a step in the wrong direction? If it works in the United States, wouldn’t it work here?
