Do you get what you pay for when you book a cheap vacation in a third-world country like Cuba?
Canadians – and their stomachs – are complaining about their stays at supposed four and five-star resorts in Cuba.
Some of these popular destinations are being promoted by Sunwing Vacations.
Amanda Klein of Medicine Hat, Alberta, is still recovering after she and other guests at the Memories Paraiso Azul Beach Hotel in Cayo Santa Maria suffered from vomiting and diarrhea during their January 5 – 12 stay. The week-long trip they had booked through Sunwing.
They reported seeing staff licking their hands before touching buffet food, dirty dishes being washed in warm water only, food being served on toilet paper, and other unsanitary practices.
Others have complained to Global News HERE about their trip. Sunwing Vacations’ Jacqueline Grossman says they are not aware of any major issues regarding food and illness at the resorts they do business with.
Memories Paraiso Azul is ranked as a 4.5 star resort.
