The top two editors at the Edmonton Journal have been let go as part of a round of layoffs by Postmedia.
On Tuesday, National Post columnist Chris Selley tweeted that roughly 90 jobs were cut.
Several others affected by the layoffs in Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver also announced the news on Twitter.
Managing editor of the Journal, Stephanie Coombs, announced she and editor-in-chief Margo Goodhand were leaving the newsroom. National Post sports reporters David Alter and Eric Koreen and the sports department’s web producer Kaitlyn McGrath also tweeted that they were affected by the cutbacks.
The Communications Workers of America union tweeted that Postmedia was merging the Ottawa Citizen and Ottawa Sun newsrooms.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Postmedia has yet to comment.
