One is dead as a seniors home had to be evacuated after fire broke out.
York Regional say the blaze likely started just after noon on Sunday.
Authorities evacuating the seventh floor of “Fairy Lake Gardens” at 468 Eagle Street, while they dowsed the blaze.
Four people were sent to South Lake hospital with smoke inhalation. Police say a woman, in her 70s, was found dead inside a unit.
All other residents were evacuated on chartered buses to a nearby community centre.
The building houses 97 seniors apartments.
No word as of yet to the cause of the fire, as the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office continues the investigation.
York police do not believe the fire is of a suspicious nature.
