Students suffering an infestation of head lice may soon be allowed back in school, thanks to a policy change.
Toronto District School Board spokesperson Ryan Bird has indicated that Toronto Public Health has updated its policy on head lice. Entomologist Richard Pollack says nits take very little blood, and at their worst they can cause mild itching.
Currently, the TDSB policy is to bar children with head lice from attending school until their problem clears up.
The policy varies depending on the school board.
What do you think is the best approach to take with head lice? Would you send an infested kid back to school with a few nits in their hair?
