A 17-year-old Pembroke teen used the credit card his dad had given him for emergencies to run up an $8,800 bill!
Lance Perkins discovered his son’s spending spree over the holidays, which were tied to in-game purchases for a FIFA soccer game.
His son admitted to using the card inappropriately, but was equally shocked at the size of the bill.
Perkins contacted Microsoft, the company behind the Xbox, to see if they would cancel the charges, but the company isn’t playing ball.
The family has even asked the credit card company to cancel the charges. Originally, they told Perkins that if he wanted to eliminate the $8,800, he would have to charge his son with fraud! A recent update, however, suggests that the credit card overlords have agreed to reduce the amount.
Following this experience, Perkins remarks that all gaming systems are now banned from his house.
