Presidential hopeful Donald Trump said Sunday that the NFL has gone “soft”, citing it as a reason why he doesn’t watch professional football anymore.
He also suggested that the United States has gone just as soft.
“Football has become soft like how the country has become soft,” Trump told 3,000 people at a Reno, Nevada rally.
He was referring to new rules designed to reduce concussions among players following the rise in concern over such injuries.
“If I become president of the United States, we are going to be so strong.”
Is he right about both the NFL and the United States? Some here in Canada believe his words ring true for society in general, that we lack a backbone when it comes to humour, sports, and education, and criticism.
