Toronto police have charged a 39 year old man with six counts of fraud after an ongoing investigation.
It is alleged that a man posed as an employee within the travel industry between August and October 2015.
The man sold fake airline tickets, at seemingly discounted prices, to unsuspecting would-be-travellers.
He also claimed to have financial investment opportunities in foreign currency exchange and connections leasing vehicles
He took money from unsuspecting investors and customers and never delivered the foreign currency.
In total, he defrauded numerous victims of approximately $275,000
39 year old Mike Di Giulio was arrested on Tuesday and charged with six counts of Fraud Over $5000.
He is also known to use aliases including “Michael Angelo” and “Mike Antonio De Santos”.
Police believe there may be other victims and he mainly targetted the Italian community.
Di Giulio is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, January 12.
