Former Toronto Police Chief, and current Liberal MP, Bill Blair has been tasked with putting in place the legislation for the legalization of marijuana.

As apart of the task force associated with legislation, Justin Trudeau has given the reigns to Bill Blair, who is not new to the issue of marijuana law.
While Blair was chief of police, was supportive of the call for legalization of marijuana by the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH) in 2014. Blair’s current views may contrast his former colleagues, The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, as they have advocated ticketing marijuana users but not full legalization.
