A Toronto police officer is facing an assault charge over his involvement in an arrest last Summer.
According to the province’s police watchdog, the incident happened when several officers were attempting to arrest four men who were seen entering a vehicle in a parking lot near Bathurst and Dundas last July.
The 24 year old driver suffered a broken bone in his face during the altercation that ensued.
The SIU were called in to investigate the incident with unit director Tony Loparco saying reasonable grounds were found that led them to believe that the officer in question had committed a criminal offence
Sgt. Darren Worth is now charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
He is scheduled to appear in court next month.
