The much-hated vehicle registration tax is returning to Toronto!
Well, that’s what the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives would like to hear. The social justice coalition feels that Toronto City Council should revive the $60 charge per vehicle so that councillors can “be true to their word” about helping low income individuals, and improving ” all of our lives by reducing inequality.”
The organization claims that “just as it was eliminated it could be reintroduced, and it could be easily reintroduced in this budget.”
The Ford administration killed the tax in 2011.
WHAT DOES TORONTO MAYOR JOHN TORY THINK ABOUT THIS IDEA?
He’s not a fan! He shared his views on the tax and the coalition’s request with The John Oakley Show. He also responded to news that Aviva is offering insurance to Uber drivers. Have a listen!
