Closing arguments were presented today in the James Forcillo trial.
The crown says Forcillo is a known hothead who used deadly force in a situation where he had other options. Forcillio, himself, says Sammy Yatim had several chances to surrender and he felt his life was in danger. This is reason enough, according to him, to be found not guilty. The trial has been plagued by several inconsistencies in the versions of events by both prosecution and the defence. This is especially true with what happened between Forcillo’s decision to fire several rounds after the first three bullets entered the streetcar. Eighteen-year-old Sammy Yatim died after being shot at nine times when he pulled out a knife on a streetcar in 2013.
If you were on the jury, would you have a hard time convicting James Forcillo? Is he the only one that truly knows if his life was in danger?
