Twitter is considering loosening its decade-old restriction on the length of tweets.
Analysts say it’s part of a bid to make the social media service more appealing to a wider audience that’s used to the greater freedom offered by Facebook and other forums.
Currently, the micro-blogging website limits the number of characters in a tweet to 140 but there’s word Twitter is thinking of expanding that to 10,000.
Twitter removed the 140-character limit in August for direct private messages sent between users.
San Francisco-based Twitter Inc. declined to comment on the reports.
