Unions involved with Canada’s media industry are lobbying the federal government to reverse its decision over pick and paying for TV cable and satellite channels.
Consumer advocates applauded the move by the previous Harper government that gave TV watchers in this country the ability to pick and choose which channels they wanted to pay for. Media groups argue that this will erode the Canadian content and in turn, the economy. Their study says these changes to TV regulations will erase 15,000 jobs and reduce Canada’s economic output to the tune of $1.4 billion.
Do you think the pick-and-pay system is good news for Canadians, or bad?
