The provincial Liberals have begun running radio ads to promote the Liberal candidate in the Whitby-Oshawa byelection.
Premier Kathleen Wynne is yet to call the byelection and has until February to set a date.
The byelection is necessary after former deputy Progressive Conservative leader Christine Elliott resigned her seat last summer.
The 30 second Liberal ad features Premier Wynne saying one of the things she’s most proud of is that Ontario now has more wind and solar power on the electricity grid and no longer burns coal to generate electricity.
She also suggests the other parties could bring back coal-fired power generation, even though the Conservatives and NDP have no such plans.
The three major parties have already named their candidates. Labour Lawyer, Niki Lundquist is running for the NDP, regional councillor Lorne Coe is the Conservatives’ candidate and former school trustee Elizabeth Roy, is running for the Liberals.
