Closing arguments are scheduled to begin Tuesday at the trial of a Toronto police officer facing murder charges in the shooting death of a teen over 2 years ago.
Sammy Yatim was shot several times on an empty streetcar, after refusing to drop the knife he was carrying.
Constable James Forcillo has pleaded not guilty to second-degree and attempted murder in his death.
During the trial, jurors heard Yatim had taken the drug ecstasy before boarding a streetcar on a July night in 2013.
Crown prosecutors have argued the officer’s actions were not necessary, but his lawyer maintains it was a case of self-defense.
