It seems drivers in Toronto aren’t getting the message about drunk driving.
Toronto Police released its numbers today during the festive RIDE program and the number of people arrested for an impaired driving-related offence is up 8% over last year.
211 drivers were charged over the 45 day campaign, that’s up from 195 charges laid last year.
Over the entire year the number of charges is down slightly from 1371 arrests in 2014 to 1364 in 2015.
The Toronto Police Service thanks those people who made the right choice to not drink and drive.
They say ending impaired driving will continue to be a goal for the Toronto Police Service and, with the support of the public, to keep the roads of Toronto safe for all road-users.
Police remind anyone who thinks they spot a driver that might be impaired to call 9-1-1.
