18-year-old, Brooke Henderson of Smith Falls, Ontario has been named the Canadian Press female athlete of the year.
The teenage golfer was the first Canadian to win on the LPGA tour since 2001, which catapulted her to 18th overall in the world rankings.
Henderson managed to gain 37% of the vote and soccer star Kadeisha Buchanan was a distant second place in the voting.
The award was previously won by tennis player Eugenie Bouchard over the past two years.
