A justice of the peace wants to challenge Toronto’s bylaw that people should have to pay the set fine amount on parking tickets.
Patrick Marum told a Scarborough courtroom, that people should not have to pay the full amount of the ticket, since you have to take a day off to deal with it while having little or no law experience. He also added that unrepresented defendants should have their rights protected, and it is unfair that there is flexibility elsewhere in the province with tickets except Toronto.
Should people be able to get their parking fines reduced in court? Have you ever been successful in fighting a parking ticket?
