It’s a case of he said she said between a local representative from PETA and a the owner of the Bowmanville zoo.
A video has been obtained by PETA which shows Michael Hackenberger allegedly whipping a tiger (the same tiger that appeared in the movie The Life of Pi) several times, swearing at the animal and was later filmed saying, “He likes to hit the tiger in the face.”
Brittany Peet a representative from PETA claims the Hackenberger has a history of violence against animals and is now taking this video to the OSPCA.
The zoo owner is battling back though, releasing a lengthy response video that asserts his actions were justified and completely in accordance with the law.
In response to his response, Peet tells AM 640 that Hackenberger is completely wrong and is in fact a liar.
Hackenberger has not been charged with a crime.
