The 24 year old who mowed down pedestrians on the vegas strip is now facing murder charges.
Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo identified 24-year-old Lakeisha N. Holloway as the woman who wouldn’t stop. Nearby security video shows that it was an intentional act.
Authorities believe Holloway had a falling out with the father of her 3-year-old daughter, who was in the car, prior to striking more than two dozen people.
Holloway was ordered held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning. She’s also charged with leaving the scene of a collision and child abuse or neglect.
A 32 year old woman is dead and more than two dozen people injured, including several Canadians, after Holloway intentionally crashed her vehicle into pedestrians along a sidewalk on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night.
Holloway reportedly drove to a hotel and told a valet to call 911 after explaining what she had done.
37 were taken to hospital, including six people in critical condition.
Spokesperson for University Medical Center, Danita Cohen, says at least five Canadians were brought to its trauma centre, including one patient who was in critical condition. She said at least two of the injured Canadians, a man and a woman, were from Montreal, and were in need of French translators.
Cohen noted the crash victims were being treated for head injuries, cuts and broken bones.
The incident began when police say a woman driving a 1996 Oldsmobile sedan with Oregon plates jumped the sidewalk and plowed into a crowd in front of the Paris Hotel & Casino. The vehicle then returned to the street before driving onto the sidewalk again at a different spot of Las Vegas Boulevard, hitting more people.
Police say there was a three-year-old child inside the vehicle when the incidents took place, but wasn’t harmed.
