David Livingston, former Chief of Staff and Laura Miller, former Deputy Chief of Staff for Dalton McGuinty while McGuinty was Premier of Ontario were arrested this week by provincial police and criminally charged with breach of trust, mischief in relation to data and misuse of a computer system to commit the offence of mischief. This in relation to the McGuinty government gas plant cancellation scandal which cost the taxpayer up to $1.1 billion. (McGuinty had claimed in November 2012, the total cost of the cancellations was $230 million. Auditor General in October 2013 pegged the cost at between $950 million and $1.1 billion).
The charges relate to the destruction of tens of thousands of government emails connected with gas plant cancellations.
Laura Miller this week resigned as exec director of the Liberal Party of B.C. just days after B.C. Premier Christy Clark had to admit her government, including ministers had also been engaged in the practice of destroying emails.
Believe Dalton McGuinty knew nothing about the email destruction and that the current Premier also knew nothing? Kathleen Wynne says this all took place before she became Premier and so has no knowledge.
