Will Ontario soon adopt health warnings on bottles of alcohol sold in the province?
A new study into the issue found that consumers’ desire for wine, beer and liquor actually lessened when the bottles and cans were outfitted with a warning label featuring a picture of a diseased organ, like your liver.
The study, out of Halifax, suggests that these labels might help in the battle against alcoholism.
And as the National Post reports HERE, alcohol researcher (sounds like a fun job!) Tim Stockwell revealed that he’s working closely with an UNNAMED Canadian government on their plan to introduce these labels to their containers.
Do you think the government in question is our very own Ontario?
Cigarette packs feature photos of diseased organs. Smoking rates have dropped bit by bit over the last few years. Could warning labels have the same impact on our other vice? Do you think it will curb binge drinking? Would a nasty picture make you think twice about grabbing that $20 bottle of red this weekend?
