Four-year-old Katie had to be put down Tuesday after the German shepherd was severely injured in the TTC tunnel found directly south of Davisville station.
The dog was discovered lying between the tracks and the third rail during a routine track patrol at about 1:30 pm.
The dog, who remained calm during the ordeal, was muzzled before being carried away on a stretcher and taken to the nearby Usher Animal Hospital located on Chaplin, just east of Yonge.
Veterinarian Greg Usher claimed that the dog’s owner visited his clinic earlier in the day searching for Katie.
Authorities have not yet determined how the dog ended up on the tracks undetected.
Some on social media believe that the dog’s owner was negligent, and should be made to pay for the cost of the two hour TTC delay and fees associated with the response by emergency crews. Is that fair?
