Following an ongoing epidemic of shootings by police of unarmed individuals, many of them black men, authorities south of the border are taking a hard, long look at their policies.
That’s why police chiefs from New York, Boston, Houston and other US cities have gathered at Scotland’s police training academy near Glasgow.
98% of Scottish police officers patrol the streets without a gun!
As a result, it has been over 20 years since an officer has been killed by a violent suspect, and it is rare for a cop to kill a suspect in Scotland.
In the U.S., over 1000 people have been killed by police in 2015 alone!
Scottish cops are trained to either de-escalate the situation, or retreat when the going gets tough.
