The funeral for a 7 year old boy who inspired a town to recreate Christmas in October is to take place today.
Evan Leversage had suffered from an inoperable brain tumour since just before his 2nd birthday and endured 100 rounds of chemotherapy in a bid to reduce the size of the tumour.
However despite the treatment, his family were told in September that the tumor had grown to a point where there was no further course of treatment available.
Once doctors told the Leversage family that they weren’t sure if Evan would live to see this Christmas, the town of St. George rallied behind the boy and put on an early Christmas parade in October, complete with artificial snow strewn around Evan’s home.
The boy got to hop onto Santa’s sleigh and ride with him through the streets of St. George with thousands of townspeople looking on.
Evan was admitted to a hospice in Brandford a short time later on November 4th, and passed away in his mother’s arms on Sunday.
