A 34 year old Toronto man has been charged following an investigation into distraction theft targeting seniors in the city.
According to police, a 96 year year old woman was walking in the Victoria Park Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East when she was approached by a woman driving a car.
She was offered some gold jewelry for sale before being driven to a bank to get money to buy the jewelry
It’s then alleged that the woman put the jewelry on her neck while removing a gold necklace she was already wearing without the elderly woman noticing.
The suspect then fled having stolen the gold jewelry.
Mihaela Miclescu was palced under arrest on December 6th and now faces a charges of theft under $5000.
