Toronto Police are looking for help from the public to identify people responsible for, a series of distraction thefts that have been targeting seniors on Victoria Park Avenue between Ellesmere and Eglinton.
Between November 18 and December 2, four separate incidents have been reported to police along Victoria Park Avenue.
It’s alleged the suspects watch as people use their debit card while paying for items at an ATM then when the victims go to their cars a suspect knocks on the window and tells them there is something under the car.
When the victim gets out to inspect another suspect enters the car and steals their wallets.
The suspects then withdraw money using the stolen debit/credit cards.
Security camera images of the suspects are now released.
Investigators believe there may be other victims. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
Police are reminding the public, especially seniors, to be cautious when using debit/credit cards or ATMs. PINs should be hidden when being inputted and any suspicious activity should be reported to police.
