According to a report released Wednesday by the Ontario auditor general’s office, which looked at the provincial government’s energy contracts, green energy plans, job creation programs, the status of long-term care, and Children’s Aid, among other issues, the Liberal Government has overcharged you by $37 BILLION on electricity, compared to the average market price!
Bonnie Lysyk found that the Ontario Power Authority’s 20-year technical plan, which was updated every three years and reviewed by the Ontario Energy Board, would have offered protection to consumers.
“Instead of following the legislated process, the Ministry of Energy itself effectively assumed responsibility for electricity planning,” she said.
Remember last year, when Bob Chiarelli, Energy Minister for the province, defended his government from criticism by stating “The electricity system is very complex, it’s very difficult to understand. I can tell you that some of our senior managers in discussing some of these issues with some of the representatives from the Auditor General’s office got the feeling that they didn’t understand some of the elements of it.”
Lysyk’s 773 page report would suggest otherwise!
