Get ready to dig a little deeper if you are a GO Transit passenger.
The Metrolinx Board of Directors is meeting Thursday to discuss several issues, but one item on the agenda involves a possible fare hike for GO Transit.
The board is considering an increase of 5% to allow GO to meet growing ridership demand while “continuing to provide the best possible service to customers.”
A proposed tiered fare increase would mean freezing the lower fares for the shorter distances, while increasing the amount of the discount earned when using the PRESTO card.
If approved, base adult single fares would be increased as follows:
Any increase would go into effect February 1, 2016.
