A Toronto area math tutor and his finance have been arrested and charged after an alleged sexual assault on a 14 year old student last year.
According to Toronto police, 32 year old Kevin Chan had been tutoring the girl for a number of years while his fiancée 23 year old Kayla Drumonde had volunteered at the same school.
It’s alleged that the couple befriended the girl and had her over to their North York home on numerous occasions.
The charges relate to an incident in the summer of 2014, when the girl alleges that she was sexually assaulted by the pair at the home in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and The Donway East
Both Chan and Drumonde have now both been charged with one count of gang sexual assault and one count of sexual interference.
Police believe there may be other victims as Kevin Chan has been affiliated with numerous Toronto-area schools working as a private math tutor and volunteering.
Some of the locations he has been affiliated with include Dr. Norman Bethune Collegiate from September 2000 to June 2001, Avondale Public School from September 2005 to November 2007
where he worked as a volunteer Teacher, Willowdale Middle School from September 2008 to March 2009, Flemington Public School from March 2009 to June 2009, Light in the Attic Learning in 2011, two locations of Spirit of Math from September 2011 to August 2014, and Mathnasium of Don Mills from November 2014 to November 2015.
