American Airlines is in some hot water after a recent customer service complaint.
Chris Shelley, from Orange County, was sitting comfortably in his seat on an American Airlines flight, when he was abruptly asked to gather his belongings and “deplane immediately”. The woman who had sat down next to him had complained to flight personnel about concerns over Mr. Shelley’s weight. An American Airlines employee informed him that anyone over two inches in the seat cannot sit on the aircraft.
Shelley complied with flight personnel and exited the plane, but was not ready to give up his seat just yet.
Shelley, who says he flies over 100,000 miles a year, pleaded with staff to change their decision, as they had not offered any solutions to the problem besides removing him from the flight. Shelley was eventually let back on the plane, as the woman who had complained about his size had agreed to switch seats with someone else.
Do you think American Airlines was right to remove Chris Shelley from the plane for being overweight? Or do you think that the they were too quick to remove him without an acceptable solution?
