Canada will be left with a very large bill after bringing in 25,000 Syrian refugees by Christmas!
Rough estimates set the cost at $1.2 billion. Now, that’s over a span of six years.
But $876.7 million will be required in this fiscal year alone, which runs April 1st 2015 to March 31st 2016.
Some existing funds ($16.6 million from the previous Conservative Government and $100 million from a current fund for international crises) will cover some of the costs.
The Immigration Department eats up a bulk of the costs – $528.4 million. the Defence Department would be allocated $98.7 million.
With a $1.2 billion price tag, each of the 25,000 refugees will cost $48,000 over six years.
Will this be money well spent? Do you have an issue with the amount of money Canada will be spending on this endeavour?
