It’s that time of year again.
Toronto police will be joined by nearly 20 other police services for the launch of the 2015 Holiday RIDE Check campaign.
As of Tuesday November 17, in Toronto, there have been:
• 1,151 drivers charged for impaired-driving-related offences
• 1,012 drivers issued a 90-day licence suspension
• 444 drivers received a warn range licence suspension (3, 7 or 30 days)
• 5 of the 55 fatal collisions on Toronto roads involved drivers who were impaired while operating a motor vehicle
Police are reminding drivers to be responsible, plan ahead and make use of public transportation.
And citizens are also asked to join the fight against impaired driving by calling 9-1-1 if they believe another driver is impaired.
