Starting Monday, the City of Toronto will begin removing abandoned bicycles from the streets in preparation for the winter season.
City workers will be looking for bikes with missing or damaged parts, flat or missing tires, or seem to be in unsuabe condition. Any bikes that are clearly derelict will be removed without notice. If they’re unsure if the bike has been abandoned, it will be tagged with a notification before its removal.
Any tagged bikes will get 14 days before its removed from its original location. If the bike has been moved to a different location, it will not be removed.
Residents are asked to assist with the cleanup by calling 3-1-1. Callers can report bikes that have been in the same location for over a month, or any bikes that look decrepid and unuseable.
