He was part of a blockbuster trade over the summer between the Toronto Blue Jays and Colorado Rockies, but shortstop Jose Reyes is making headlines for a different reason.
NBC news affiliate KHNL is quoting sources who say Reyes was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife in their Maui hotel room on Halloween night.
She had told officers responding to the scene that Reyes grabbed her by the throat and shoved her into the sliding glass door leading to the balcony, and that she sustained injuries to her neck, thigh and wrist.
Reyes was arrested for domestic assault and released on bail.
The 32 year old was part of a trade to the Rockies for five-time all-star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki back in July.
