The 73 year old driver of a transport truck responsible for a crash which caused the death of four people last month has been placed under arrest.
The crash happened at around 10:30 p.m. on October 2nd in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 east of Lake Ridge Road in Whitby.
21 vehicles were involved including 3 transport trucks, with the OPP saying previously that the collision was caused when the driver in question failed to slow down approaching a construction site, setting off a chain reaction.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, a man and a woman from Pickering, as well as a 12-year-old boy from Mexico while his 10 year old brother died in hospital two days later.
According to the OPP, Mohinder Singh Saini of of LaSalle, Quebec was arrested on Monday.
He has since been charged with four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and 11 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
