Former Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant states ‘most people in jail today are innocent.’
They killed their children and were declared Not Criminally Responsible. Former Montreal cardiologist Guy Turcotte had his NCR verdict overturned and is now on trial for murdering his two children. The children’s mother, Dr. Isabelle Gaston was highly critical of Turcotte’s NCR status.
Allan Schoenborn who killed his three children and remains NCR faces an attempt by the Province of British Columbia and the Crown to be re-designated as a ‘high risk accused’ which would significantly affect his current status re absences from the mental health hospital at which he is detained and his appeals for increased freedom would be only every three years, instead of annually. Darcie Clark, mother of the three children wants Schoenborn held in custody.
Two Muslim prison inmates lodged a complaint they don’t have access to an Imam and aren’t respected by a Catholic priest at an Alberta institution at which they were both incarcerated (one still is, the other has been moved to another prison). One is a convicted murderer, the other is convicted of kidnapping.
