An Ontario student, who is likely majoring in idiocy, has turned to GoFundMe HERE to raise the $665 he needs to pay off an Uber bill.
He used the Uber Black service at 2:30am after partying Halloween night in downtown Toronto. He took the Uber back to his home in Brampton.
The regular fare would have been $184.27, but surge pricing drove the cost up to $663.37. The Uber app asks the customer to confirm their ride multiple times, ensuring that the transaction is not a mistake.
Here’s what Daniel posted to GoFundMe
Thank you to everyone who donated every penny to help me. You are very generous and I appreciate it. I will definitely pay your generosity forward in my life and help others. I was hoping to raise a bit of money to pay and I am overwhelmed at how one person can be so generous. Any amount raised above $600 will be donated to MADD. After all, I want everyone to know it isn’t okay to drink and drive, always take a taxi, public transit or walk. #justnotuber

I am asking for help to try and pay for this. I am a student who doesn’t have a lot of money and just wanted to try and enjoy a night out doing the right thing here. Über does have policies that they should take the time help you understand when you sign up, not when your in a desperate need to get home safely.
Thank you to everyone
