As part of the tentative agreement reached Monday between the provincial government and the ETFO (Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario), teachers have agreed to issue fall report cards BUT they will not be making themselves available to parents for personal one-on-one interviews.
The Toronto Star reports HERE that the union has indicated that such meetings will be left up to the teacher’s discretion if they’re concerned about a student’s progress.
Is this a misstep by both the union and the Liberal government?
Does this only serve to anger the parents who have been dealing with this months-long labour dispute?
Do these parent-teacher interviews really even matter? Have you ever learned anything important from one of these “sit downs”?
