A Durham Police officer has been charged with assault after witnesses reported he slapped a man who had been arrested.
On Wednesday police arrested a man on Nonquon Road in Oshawa and witnesses report that while the man was on the ground and handcuffed, an officer slapped him on the head.
Members of the DRPS Professional Standards Unit investigated the incident and have charged the officer involved.
40 year old Jeremiah Johnson has been charged with Assault. He has been reassigned to administrative duties.
