Sources indicate that Pre-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has decided to say “thanks, but no thanks” to high-profile veteran Liberal MPs when it comes to picking members for his new cabinet.
Instead, he is opting for a group of individuals that accurately reflect Canada’s diverse population. This group includes a healthy helping of women.
Political pundits suggest that this decision is going to bruise a few male egos in Trudeau’s government when they learn that a dozen or so rookie women are being given plum positions in the government.
But is Trudeau making the right move here? Should he ignore some of the more experienced politicians (many of which are white men) in favour of inexperienced female newcomers just to create a fair and balanced government?
Should gender trump skill and experience?
Trudeau will reveal his cabinet November 4th.
Here are some of those rumoured appointments, as highlighted by the National Post HERE.
