A 29 year old Toronto man has been arrested in connection with a months long sexual assault investigation in the city’s west end.
It’s alleged that the man approached three girls on the street in the area of Rathburn Road and Renforth Drive between April and October of this year asking them for directions before sexually assaulting them.
In the most recent case on October 27th, it’s said that the man sexually assaulted a girl while his 11-month-old child was in the car.
According to Detective Dan Luff who updated the media on the investigation on Tuesday, it’s also alleged that the man used social media to develop an online relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The girl was coerced into a one-on-one meeting with the man, who then sexually assaulted her.
Police say that the accused has been using the aliases Malik Gavin D Sweeti, Gavin D Sweetie or variations of these names to contact girls online and is also known to approach his victims in a white 2010 Hyundai Sonata and blue 2014 Mazda CX5.
Fathi Rashid, a father of two, is now facing 13 charged in total including four counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference, criminal harassment and one count of invitation to sexual touching.
Police said they believe there may be more victims an are appealing for anyone with more information to contact officers or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
He is expected to appear in court Wednesday
