A Russian aircraft has gone down near the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation in Egypt has confirmed the passenger plane crashed, and reporting no survivors.
An earlier report said the plane lost contact with a Russian aircraft carrying 217 passengers and 7 crew members.
17 children were reported to be on board.
Egypt’s state-run news agency says the plane left Sinai’s Sharm el-Sheikh, a popular destination for Russian tourists, then disappeared from radar screens some 20 minutes later.
Egyptian aviation officials say the pilot reported technical problems and asked to make an emergency landing.
The aircraft was bound for St. Petersburg, Russia.
