Parents with kids in Hamilton schools are reportedly offering to clean the dirty hallways and even coach sports teams as ETFO, Ontario Clerical & Technical Unit and CUPE job actions continue during union-government contract negotiations.
But, as the CBC informs us HERE, the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board has politely declined.
At Dr. Davey Elementary School, a member of a parent council says that the hallways are full of litter, cockroaches and other creatures.
Tanya Ritchie claims that some kids with asthma have been pulled from the school due to the build up of dust.
Sean is the father of a kindergartner enrolled at the school. He told the CBC that the principal has admitted that the halls are filthy. He son comes home with dirty pants and black, dirt-covered socks. The washrooms are in a poor state.
Students are allegedly being locked out of the school in the morning until classes begin.
Do you think elementary schools should allow parents to step in and take over duties that others are paid to do while this job action is in effect?
