York Region Police are charging two Toronto men in connection to a recent homicide investigation.
On August 5, a man’s body was discovered in a ditch in Vaughan on Highway 7 West, west of Keele Street. Investigators say the victim suffered trauma, and foul play was suspected.
Police are identifying the victim as 38-year-old Fernando Anibal Acosta from Toronto.
Authorities believe the victim was involved in some kind of verbal confrontation with two men he didn’t know outside of a nearby motel. They allege an argument escalated, and the man was murdered in the nearby ditch where the body was located.
19-year-old Malcolm Ellis, 19, and 20-year-old Tevon Squire, 20, both from Toronto, are being charged with second degree murder. They are both scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on November 12, 2015.
