The Toronto Transit Commission will sue Bombardier over the new streetcars it has been unable to deliver.
TTC board voted unanimously to pursue legal action against the manufacturer and approved a list of seven potential actions against the company.
The board stopped short of barring the company from future contracts.
The TTC has an order of 204 streetcars from Bombardier at a cost of $1.25 Billion.
There have been several delays in the order and after commiting to delivering 23 new cars to the city by the end of the year, last week Bombardier said it couldn’t meet that schedule either.
When that delay was announced CEO Andy Byford said they would be pursuing legal action including a $50 million claim that was included in the contract.
The commissioners will also ask Bombardier CEO Alain Bellemare to appear before the board to explain his company’s inability to deliver.
