While discussing the Ontario Liberal Government’s decision to dock the pay of elementary school teachers, custodians and other education support workers if they don’t reach contract agreements by November 1st, John Oakley received a phone call from a listener asking him to stop differentiating between teachers and the teachers’ unions – they’re one and the same!
When a topic regarding teachers is presented on the program, some teachers will inevitably call in to explain that the union does not represent most teachers.
Do you buy that argument? If there are so many teachers unhappy with what their union is doing, why do they continue to support the body representing them?
Do you think there’s a difference between the two camps?
