A bit of an update on Rob Ford’s battle with cancer.
Doug Ford has told AM640 in an exclusive interview with Bill Carroll on Tuesday evening that his brother Rob has hit what he termed a” bump in the road” in his recovery from cancer.
He told Bill that ” it’s not good news or bad news, people have been asking about Rob… but it’s nothing we can’t get over.”
The exact nature of the ‘bump’ remains as of yet unclear but Doug said that Rob himself will like address the issue in a news conference ”in the next day or so” adding that his brother ”is a fighter and we appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that come our way.”
He refused to elaborate further however.
Rob Ford was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer which affects the connective tissues known as pleomorphic liposarcoma in September 2014.
His initial treatment involved several bouts of chemotherapy and radiation therapy in an effort to shrink the tumour in his abdomen to a size which would enable his medical team to operate.
Eventually, after months of treatment Rob underwent a ten hour surgery in May of this year with his team declaring it a success in the aftermath and stating that no new growths had been found.
The former mayor returned to work over the summer months, earlier than had been expected however Ford has not been seen seen at City Hall in recent days, prompting questions to asked of his health.
The elder Ford says he has now been authorized by the city to help with any constituent calls but says Rob is still ”feisty” and was telling him “all the terrible things John Tory has done in first year and all the great things he did.”
